Top 10 Signs You Need a Website Redesign

Top 10 Signs You Need a Website Redesign

  1. Your headline is in blinking text
Old techniques are just that - old. Today's websites MUST be more customer centric with the focus of communicating with visitors, not yelling at them. While interruptive, offline marketing such as radio, t.v. and magazine ads must 'yell' at prospects to gain their attention, the visitors on your website are here by choice. You've already gotten their attention. Now communicate.
  2. Your website's wearing an afro, bell bottoms and platform shoes with goldfish
Maybe your past designer was style blind, didn't understand design fundamentals, had an eccentric design style. If your website is that far off from the rest of the websites out there, that may not be a good thing. Whatever you paid for it, it cost too much.
  3. You still have a picture of you or your staff on the home page
Memo - the world does not rotate around you. Believe it or not, your website is not about you. They are about your visitors, your customers and their goals. Company-centric websites fail 100% of the time because people don't care about you. They care about one thing. What's in it for me? Answer that question, and you'll be rewarded with a flood of new customers.
  4. You can't find what your looking for on your own website
We're amazed at how many websites have dysfunctional or no navigation at all. No established hierarchy, no clear links, not clearly labeled links, 8 clicks to find it, etc.
  5. The leads aren't coming in like they used to
Your website used to perform so well. You used to get phone calls and emails every day. Now you're lucky if you get one a month. If that sounds like your current situation, it's time to open the analytics program, take a serious look at your competition, and redesign your website.
  6. It's more than 2 years old (literally) [old]
Unlike wine, websites don't become finer with time. Society, business, economics are all rapidly changing dynamics. A website must keep up. And, while it's always a good idea to keep your core identity intact, it should resonate with people and their current situations.
  7. Your website is still completely in 'Flash' and takes forever to load
Flash was kind of cool about 8 years ago. It was new, and as Internet speeds were increasing, it seemed awesome. With the new action scripting, designers could do all sorts of neat things, including build an entire website in Flash! What a waste! If you’re a business, people are not coming to you to be entertained or look at pretty rotating, sliding, flashing stuff. They want fast load times, interactivity, and useful information.
  8. Search engine friendly? Your company should work for the CIA because even Google can't find it.
    a. You can't be found in any search engine - even when you type in your company name
    b. You're in the top spots under search terms no one searches for
    c. You're found under broad search terms that bring traffic, not business to your website
  9. I wouldn't buy from my own website
Take a good look at your website. If you didn't know you, and you just stumbled upon your website, would you buy from it? Would you trust that your private information would be guarded? That the company has the ability to deliver the product or service they're advertising? That the price is fair and is a good value? That your purchase wouldn't embarrass you in front of friends, family or co-workers?
  10. If only they could find a phone number or some way to place their order
Great pictures, content, navigation...our website markets on the Internet, we have a low bounce rate, people are viewing everything we wanted them to...but no customers! No call to action = no customers! No transaction method (online form(s), email, telephone) = no customers! It's amazing how many websites have thought everything through, done a splendid job of presentation, but really stinks at closing the deal.

BONUS. What do we do again?
Have you ever gone to a website and just sat there wondering what the company does? Is your website one of those that doesn't quickly and clearly show your visitors who you are and what you sell or do? Are people leaving in droves because they just don't get it?

Client Testimonials

"Since your involvement, it has been very difficult for me to leave my office. I have had to hire new employees not only for service, but also for the office. Our telephones once received two or three phone calls a day to our current average of about 30 phone calls a day. This has given me problems I had only wished for prior to using your services. What is astonishing to me is that you have helped me to accomplish this through a recession."
